Carpenters and Joiners of New Jersey Project

This project was developed in 2014 for Museums and Modern Technology, a graduate course taught by Michael Zarafonetis at the University of Delaware. The research presented here is part of my Master's thesis, United by Water: Cabinetmaking Traditions in the Delaware River Valley, 1670-1740, completed for the Winterthur Program in American Material Culture.
This project hosts information about members of the woodworking crafts active in provincial and colonial New Jersey prior to 1730, with a particular focus on those who were members of or affiliated with the religious group known as Quakers, or the Society of Friends, and seeks to identify the surviving material culture and networks of early New Jerseyans.
